Trudging
up stairs to
remove clothes,
sweat-stained
from long day,
much noise, heat,
many things
done, faces
washed, wounds
kissed, instructions
given.
Sighing
as clothes drop,
soft thump atop
others, waiting
to be sorted,
washed,
folded,
hung …
Sky grows dark.
Work still to do.
Glancing
out window, light
beckons, door
opens, single chair
invites. I
accept.
Escaping
hot house, feel
cool breeze, hear
crickets, watch
star appear
in evening sky.
Breathing
deep, I
pause
to give
thanks.
