This morning Michelle put Alana into the wrap during breakfast. We had fun thinking of various names for the double-decker effect. Our favorite is "bunk beds."
This afternoon Michelle took a watch on the prayer wall here at LaHOP.
The names of the businesses here in Louisiana are quite ... fun. "Skent & Dent Outlet"? What is that? Oh ... they sell not-so-gently used washing machines and dryers. I still don't understand "skent" but at least "dent" makes sense.
And in case you weren't paying close attention to the bottom of the sign above...here is a closeup of the bottom of the sign.
That's right: "Billy Bob's Bank & Tooh Extraction." What?!?
We laughed and laughed!
ReplyDeleteMike's suggestion is "Bunk Belly". :)
Rayne says: I love you, Mommy! And Alana!
Bunk belly - I like that!
ReplyDeleteI love you too, Raynie-bow!!
Michelle I am really digging that wrap please tell me how to make one. What fabric are you using. We will be adopting soon too. We are currently in the paper work stage. I am also planning on breast feeding and I wanted to know how it is going for you.
ReplyDeletesorry for such a long comment
The wrap is so easy to make. I got about six yards of a stretchy cotton fabric (like stretchy T-shirt material). Then I just folded it in half lengthwise, ironed it to make a crease, and cut it along the crease. Voila! Two wraps! The fabric was on sale, so the whole thing only cost me about $20.

Nursing is going well. Alana latched right on the first time. Since I am in my third trimester of pregnancy, I am only producing colostrum. (That won't change until the baby is born.) So I'm nursing her 5-10 minutes at the beginning of each feeding so she can get a little colostrum and bonding, then switch her to a bottle before she gets too frustrated with not getting much milk. When I get home I plan to start using a supplementer so she can nurse for her full feeding.
I hope that helps!
I gave the supplemental nursing system to Mama, Michelle. I'm glad I saved it all these years. I thought it might come in handy again one day. (Christal saves the day!) :P It is over five years old, though. So make sure to inspect the little tubing really well for cracks and such. Wouldn't want Alana to choke!
ReplyDeleteI like those cute red double-decker London tour buses. But then I thought, a bus probably isn't the best thing for a pregnant lady to be compared to. But I was just thinking of the cute part! :)
ReplyDeleteI do really like "bunk belly" the best so far. We'll have to think of something else once the other one is born, though.
And Paul, what's the spelling of Tayan, Tayon, Tayin, Tayen's name?!? :)
Miss you guys...
I am so thrilled to watch the adoption of Alana unfold for your family! It gives me so much hope and faith that Tim and I could do this too! I can't wait to meet Alana, and I am praying with you for God's continued provision and bonding with Princess Alana! I am honored to be Alan's Pastor and I can't wait to welcome her to The Rock! Thank you for sharing your story! It is SO the heart of God. I pray for many more adoption stories to unfold at The Rock! Love, Sarah Downes
ReplyDeleteThanks for the posts and all the fun updates. It's so nice to see positives in a negative world. I love the "bunk beds". So funny! Love to you both! Aunt Diana
